The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 133 kicked off National Legion Week with a meaningful contribution to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
The Legion presented a donation of $5,650, which will fund a telemetry pack for the hospital. This vital piece of technology allows healthcare providers to continuously monitor heart rates and rhythms, helping to detect conditions such as atrial fibrillation and certain strokes. When abnormalities are identified, the system alerts medical staff immediately.
Kate Zimmerman, Vice-President of Integrated Care and Chief Nursing Executive at Northumberland Hills Hospital, expressed sincere appreciation for the donation. “We have many patients who require this level of monitoring, especially upon hospital admission. Our need for telemetry continues to grow along with the community,” Zimmerman noted.
Zimmerman says Legion’s generous support brings the hospital one step closer to its goal of purchasing four new telemetry packs in the coming year.
