The first ever Ontario Cheese Festival is coming to Picton on September 28, 2024.
Patricia McDermott who owns Agrarian Market is running the show after being an integral part of Prince Edward County’s former Great Canadian Cheese Festival.
McDermott tells My Broadcasting Corporation she’s getting exciting feedback in advance of the event.
The festival is being paired with a variety of supporting vendors who produce and sell wine, craft beer, spirits, chocolates, bread and crackers.
The Ontario Cheese Festival will help to shine a light on a business sector that McDermott says is still recovering from the pandemic.
McDermott says Prince Edward County is down to only a handful of local cheese producers.
From a consumer standpoint McDermott feels you owe it to yourself to attend the Ontario Cheese festival to get closer to your food suppliers.
The Ontario Cheese Festival will also be an opportunity says McDermott, to sample and savour, with tutored tastings available.
The former Picton Legion which is now called The CAPE on Main Street is the host location for the first Ontario Cheese Festival.
