
Northumberland OPP say they’ve made another arrest in a Trent Hills robbery investigation – and are also appealing for the public’s help with a wanted person in connection with their probe.
The alleged incident happened back on Oct. 18, at about 9:45 p.m., when police said they were dispatched to a Church Lane Hastings home for a robbery that had just occurred.
Suspects allegedly fled in a dark-coloured SUV before police and the OPP’s emergency response team arrived.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, OPP issued an update, confirming a third arrest and a call for the public’s help in locating a 30-year-old Alnwick/Haldimand man.
As previously reported by police, preliminary investigation pointed to three men who allegedly assaulted and threatened a resident during the incident. Police also said a mobile phone was taken and that a firearm was believed to have been brandished during the alleged altercation.
On Oct. 21, 2024, police reported arresting one individual sought in connection with the investigation. On Nov. 18, 2024, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit and the Central East Region repeat offender enforcement (ROPE) team reported locating another suspect at a residence in Havelock.
The accused was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Peterborough County and an outstanding warrant in relation to the Northumberland incident.
On Tuesday, police said on Monday, Nov. 25, the crime unit arrested Emily Wismayer, 26, of Trent Hills. The accused was charged with robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, public mischief, and breach of recognizance.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Officers are also following a line of inquiry and are seeking the whereabouts of another individual allegedly involved, reported OPP, on Tuesday.
Dustin Wesenberg, 30, of the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, is wanted for assault with a weapon and robbery using a firearm, said police. He is described as about six-foot-two, weighing about 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Police said he is known to frequent between the Greater Toronto Area and Montreal.
The investigation is ongoing with help from the Northumberland OPP crime unit.
