On Saturday, Nov. 30, at about 9 a.m., Northumberland OPP said police responded to a report from EMS about a driver who appeared to be experiencing medical issues on the side of County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.
After arriving on scene, police said they started an impaired driving investigation, and the driver allegedly registered a “fail” after a breath sample demand, at which point they were arrested.

In another call on Sunday, Dec. 1, at about 10:30 a.m., EMS and OPP responded to a report of a collision involving two passenger vehicles on Hwy. 401 eastbound in Port Hope. When police arrived, two occupants of one vehicle had sustained non-life-threatening and non-life-altering injuries, reported OPP.
The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, and police said they made a mandatory alcohol screening (MAS) demand. The accused was then arrested and transported to a local police station for further tests, said police.
There were no other injuries reported.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 30-year-old from Lachine, Que. was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) and dangerous operation.
Later Sunday, at about 6:50 p.m., OPP said they were on patrol on County Road 25 in Cramahe when a passing motorist flagged police about another driver, who was parked on the Hwy. 401 off-ramp and walking down to the ditch.
After speaking with the driver of the parked vehicle, an impaired driving investigation started and an ASD demand was made, said OPP. The individual complied by providing a breath sample and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests, reported police.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Toronto resident was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
None of the charges in the above unrelated incidents have been proven in court.
In addition to future court dates, all of the drivers also received 90-day licence suspensions, and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.
OPP are continuing to thank citizens who report suspected impaired drivers.
