With the Canada Post strike approaching almost a month now, the Municipality of Brighton is encouraging residents to register for e-billing.
Amid the current service disruption, municipal staff are reminding residents that registering for e-billing is a quick, convenient and environmentally-friendly option to receive statements directly in inboxes.
Brightonians can register for e-billing by calling the municipal office at 613-475-0670, by visiting the Municipal Centre (35 Alice St.) on the second floor, or by visiting the municipality’s website.
If residents have inquiries or need help, they can all also call the municipal office, noted staff.
As of Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, the strike – which involves more than 55,000 workers – entered day 26. At press deadline, the latest information suggested the postal service had cautioned that a swift resolution appears improbable.
On Monday, Canada Post issued a statement, citing the union’s most recent proposals have only expanded the differences between the two sides, with some of the union’s demands reportedly increasing.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers outlined demands in a member bulletin on Monday, which includes calls for higher wages, a cost-of-living adjustment, and stronger job security measures.
