A Brighton man accused of threatening correctional officers at Warkworth Institution has been charged after an investigation that started last year, say Northumberland OPP.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, Northumberland OPP confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old Brighton man in connection with their probe.
According to police, back on Sept. 13, 2024, officers received a report relating to an incident at the medium-security facility on Aug. 10, 2024.
“A police investigation found that an inmate (allegedly) threatened a number of correctional officers,” said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a warrant was issued and on Jan. 14, 2025, Northumberland OPP arrested the individual sought in connection to the incident.
The accused was charged with uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.
This charge has not been proven in court.
