KPR school board proposes boundary changes, school adjustments in Northumberland, Quinte West
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) is reviewing student accommodation plans for Northumberland County and the City of Quinte West – Murray Ward as student enrolment continues to grow.
As part of this process, the board has proposed minor boundary adjustments for French Immersion students attending Colborne Public School and Northumberland Hills Public School. These changes will affect new students starting in September 2025, though current students can remain at their existing schools.
In Campbellford, proposed adjustments to Kent Public School and Hillcrest Public School include two options:
Concept A: Convert Kent PS into a JK-6 school while shifting Grades 7 and 8 to Hillcrest PS.
Concept B: Adjust the Kent PS and Hillcrest PS boundary for K-6 students, while ensuring Grade 7 and 8 students in 2026 remain at their current school.
A community engagement meeting is scheduled for February 10 at 6 p.m. at Campbellford District High School. Families can also provide feedback through the KPR website.
A final decision is expected in June 2025.
