Four people from the Quinte area are facing impaired driving charges following a busy winter storm weekend in Quinte West.
OPP say officers laid the charges in separate incidents between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16.
The first occurred Friday evening on Glen Miller Road, where police stopped a vehicle for stunt driving. A 28-year-old was charged with impaired driving, excessive speed, and having an open container of liquor. Their vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
Later that night, police stopped a vehicle on Old Highway 2 after detecting a suspended driver through an Automated Licence Plate Recognition system. A 32-year-old was charged with impaired driving. Their vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
On Saturday afternoon, police responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Frankford Road. A 53-year-old was charged with impaired driving, resisting a peace officer, and operating without insurance. Their vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
That evening, police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver. A 43-year-old was charged with impaired driving and refusal to comply with a demand. Their vehicle was also impounded for seven days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
Police remind the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1.
