
A Newcastle resident is facing a stunt driving charge, say Quinte West OPP.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, just after 6:30 a.m., police said they initiated a traffic stop on eastbound Hwy. 401 after a vehicle was allegedly clocked at 183 km/h in a posted 110 km/h zone.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 21-year-old Newcastle resident was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with race motor vehicle – excessive speed.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused also had their licence suspended and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Police said the accused will appear in Belleville court on April 7, 2025.
