The Invasive Species Centre (ISC) has recognized leading researchers, conservationists, and policymakers at the 4th Annual Invasive Species Awards Ceremony, held during the 6th Annual Invasive Species Forum.
The virtual event, which ran from February 18 to 20, was hosted in partnership with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources. It brought together over 1,700 attendees to discuss the latest developments in invasive species management across Canada, the U.S., and beyond.
The 2025 ISC Award winners include:
Dr. Taylor Scarr (Great Lakes Forestry Centre) – Career Achievement Award
Mallory Carpenter and Peyman Saidi (Ducks Unlimited Canada and Saiwa) – Innovation Award
Jessie McFadden and Michelle Willows (Lakehead Region Conservation Authority) – Leadership Award
Kallum McDonald (Government of Alberta) – Young Professional Award
“Invasive species cost Ontario alone $3.6 billion annually, affecting forests, fisheries, agriculture, and tourism,” said Colin Cassin, ISC Executive Director. “We’re proud to recognize those working to mitigate these threats.”
Invasive species pose the second greatest risk to biodiversity and impact outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and boating.
The Forum hosted sessions on aquatic invasives, climate change, and conservation strategies.
Recordings available on the ISC YouTube channel.
