The Northumberland Welcome Pass is helping newcomers feel at home by offering free or discounted access to local cultural activities, services, and restaurants. The pass, valid for one year from the date of issue, is designed to help newcomers connect with their community.
To qualify, newcomers must reside in Northumberland County and have lived in Canada for five years or less. For more information, contact info@nccpeterborough.ca, call (705) 761-3174, or speak with a caseworker.
Participating businesses include Cafe Lviv, JJ’s Steak and Burger, The Pink Cafe, 241 Pizza, The Squishy Goose, and YMCA Northumberland, all providing exclusive discounts to pass holders.
The initiative is supported by local partners who aim to enhance social and cultural integration for newcomers. Bhisham Ramoutar of the New Canadians Centre encourages more local businesses to get involved, stating, “By partnering with the Northumberland Welcome Pass, businesses can help newcomers feel connected and welcomed.”
Organisations interested in becoming partners can contact Ramoutar at bhisham@nccpeterborough.ca.
The Northumberland Welcome Pass is a community effort to make newcomers feel at home while exploring everything the region has to offer.
