An Orangeville resident has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act after a snowplow was allegedly hit by a transport on Hwy. 401, says Quinte West OPP.
On Monday, Feb. 24, 2024, Quinte West OPP issued an update confirming the charge.
The day prior – Sunday, Feb. 23, 2024, just after 9 a.m. – police said they responded to a collision on westbound Hwy. 401 after a tractor-trailer hit an operating snowplow.
No injuries were reported.
In their update, police said the accused transport driver – a 52-year-old Orangeville resident – was charged with following too closely under the HTA.
Police are again reminding all motorists to use caution when driving near plows and to be patient inclement weather.
