The Municipality of Brighton is accepting nominations for the 2025 Community Service Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer contributions. Formerly known as the Citizen of the Year Award, this honour is given to a resident who has made a lasting impact on the community.
“I encourage all residents to take a moment to recognize the outstanding contributions of their neighbours by nominating them for the Community Service Excellence Award,” said Mayor Brian Ostrander. “These awards honour the dedicated individuals who go above and beyond to make our community a better place.”
To be eligible, nominees must have lived in Brighton for at least five years and demonstrated significant volunteer contributions over multiple years. They must not be compensated for their efforts or have performed duties beyond what is expected in their paid employment.
Nomination forms are available online at brighton.ca or in person at the municipal office. Submissions are due by noon on March 25, 2025. The Community Events Committee will review all applications and select the recipient.
This year, Brighton is introducing a new “Spirit of Service” recognition for nominees who are not selected as the main award recipient.
A special ceremony will take place on May 1 to celebrate all honourees. Nominees will be contacted and personally invited to attend.
