Three Quebec residents are facing charges after Northumberland OPP says a traffic complaint on Hwy. 401 in Cramahe led to the alleged recovery of a stolen vehicle.
According to police, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at about 2:45 a.m., officers received a traffic complaint about a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Hwy. 401 in the Township of Cramahe.
After following up, OPP said officers found a vehicle matching the description and initial checks allegedly confirmed the vehicle was stolen from the Greater Toronto Area. After the vehicle was stopped, three occupants were placed under arrest, reported police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 20-year-old Quebec resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, following too closely, careless driving, possession of unmarked cigarettes, and driving a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.
Two other 20-year-old Quebec residents were also charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of break-in instruments, said police.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Cobourg court at a later date.
