
Prince Edward County’s climate action plan working group wants community feedback on how to deal with climate change.
Residents can provide suggestions for corporate and community-led initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Consultation events start this month:
Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m./noon – Ameliasburgh Town Hall.
Saturday, March 29, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. – Wellington and District Community Centre.
Wednesday, April 2, 3-4 p.m. – Youth engagement at the ROC in Picton.
Wednesday, April 9, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.– Milford Town Hall.
Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m.– Prince Edward Community Centre in Picton.
Participants will learn about the work being done by municipal staff and the working group. They can comment on actions proposed by staff and the group while also making suggestions.
Prince Edward County council declared a climate emergency after severe flooding in 2017 and 2019. The municipality took the further step of joining the Partners for Climate Protection program.
PCP is a national network of more than 500 municipalities. Member communities have a shared goal of taking action against climate change and reducing local greenhouse gas emissions.
As a member of the PCP program, and having met some critical milestones, Prince Edward County is continuing to develop a local action plan.
