
An intimate partner violence investigation has led Northumberland OPP to lay a slew of charges.
On Friday, March 21, 2025, Northumberland OPP issued a release about their investigation, saying on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, police received a complaint about a number of alleged incidents believed to have occurred from November 2024 until recently.
With help from the Northumberland OPP’s crime unit, an investigation was initiated.
On Thursday, March 20, with help from the tactics and rescue unit, officers reportedly arrested a person at a residence in Northumberland County. (In an effort to protect the victim, certain details normally reported by OPP are not being reported publicly.)
Police said officers also had help from the canine unit in executing a warrant at the residence.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 25-year-old was charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon – spousal, assault – spousal, three counts of forcible confinement, criminal harassment – threatening conduct, two counts of uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal, three counts of uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, uttering threats – damage property, uttering threats – damage or injure animal, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Cobourg court at a future date, reported OPP.

No other details were released by police.
