Police have released additional details about an investigation into an alleged “serious assault” that occurred at a Division Street restaurant in Trenton.
In an updated description of the alleged incident on Friday, March 21, 2025, Quinte West OPP said police responded the morning of Thursday (March 20) at about 10 a.m. to a report of a man with a weapon threatening violence.
“The male party was inside a washroom at a local restaurant on Division Street in the City of Quinte West,” reported OPP.
After police arrived on scene, the accused was taken into custody. Previously, OPP reported the accused was arrested without incident.
On Friday, police identified the accused as Brian Vachon, 40, of Quinte West. As a result of the investigation, police said the accused was charged with sexual assault with a weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, forcible confinement, and failure to comply.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was remanded into custody with a future court date before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, reported OPP on Friday.
In their initial report Thursday, police stated no serious physical injuries were reported as a result of the alleged incident.
Police also said the Quinte West OPP crime unit had taken over the ongoing investigation.
Police also thanked members of the public who helped officers Thursday in ensuring “a quick and safe arrest in this matter.”
No other details have been released by police.
