Three people – including two Brighton men and one Niagara Falls man – are facing charges after two separate alleged incidents at Warkworth Institution.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Northumberland OPP said two inmates were arrested after nearly a four-month investigation into an alleged assault at the medium-security facility back on Dec. 7, 2024.
As a result of the incident, police said a victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused include a 29-year-old Brighton man and a 27-year-old Brighton man, who are both facing assault causing bodily harm charges.
On Friday, March 28, police said both of the accused were held for bail to appear before the courts in Cobourg.
In a separate incident, police have also made an arrest after roughly a month-long investigation into an alleged indecent act.
According to police, back on Feb. 27, 2025, OPP received a report about indecent acts where an inmate was believed to have allegedly exposed himself while in a public area at the facility earlier in the month.
As a result of the investigation, police said on Thursday, March 27, a 57-year-old Niagara Falls man was arrested and charged with indecent act.
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg, reported OPP.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
