Residents across the Quinte region are invited to take part in the 25th annual Quinte Trash Bash on Saturday, April 26, a community-wide cleanup effort spanning Belleville, Prince Edward County, Quinte West, and Tyendinaga Township.
Held at the end of Earth Week, the event encourages individuals, families, and community groups to help clean up roadsides, parks, and public spaces, contributing to a healthier environment.
“Cleaning up even a small area can make a big difference in protecting our environment,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “This event is a chance for residents to come together, take action, and leave a lasting impact.”
Participating communities will provide garbage bags, gloves, and supply kits, with drop-off sites available for collected waste. Full details on supply kit pick-up and garbage drop-off locations can be found at quintetrashbash.ca.
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “By taking care of our environment, we are taking care of each other and ensuring a cleaner Quinte for future generations.”
In Prince Edward County, the event includes the Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up Day, honouring the late community advocate. “Every year, I am heartened by the community spirit on display,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson. “I encourage everyone to do their part and help improve our region.”
