The Cobourg community gathered on Sunday at Moxys Hair Co. to support Claire and Clay Irwin, whose two-year-old daughter, Vienna Rose Irwin, died in a tragic incident in May 2023 according to OPP.
The event raised funds for the Irwin family’s private investigation, as they continue to seek answers after police closed the case with no charges.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the salon was filled with visitors participating in a raffle table, bake sale, and 50/50 draw. A curated treasure sale offered unique finds, while guests enjoyed complimentary refreshments.
Moxy’s co-owner co-owner Ashia Veloce tells us more.
Family and friends say Vienna was found in a septic tank at a daycare north of Cobourg on May 25, 2023. Despite a major investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police, no charges were laid. The family launched a GoFundMe campaign titled The fight has just begun – Justice for Vienna, raising more than $144,000 so far.
Veloce tells us, through the event, the community added another $5,000 to help the Irwins.
Today’s turnout showed that the community hasn’t forgotten Vienna-and still wants answers.
MPP David Piccini has also voiced support for a possible coroner’s inquest. For friends of the family, today was not just about fundraising, but also about keeping Vienna’s memory alive and the call for justice going.
