Quinte West residents should prepare for a new recycling contractor and curbside waste collection changes starting in July, say city officials.
As previously reported, the shift is in line with Ontario direction for a new province-wide recycling transition to extended producer responsibility.
In the City of Quinte West, as of July 18, Circular Materials Ontario (CMO) will start managing the recycling program. According to city staff, CMO has contracted Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S) to provide curbside recycling collection.
Meanwhile, starting July 22, a new residential curbside waste collection schedule is set to come into effect. The city is encouraging residents to search out addresses on an interactive online map to view updated waste collection dates.
The new curbside collection schedules apply to household garbage, organics and recycling.
However, no changes are being reported to the list of recyclable materials and all waste should continue to be at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection dates.
Waste collection will also continue for businesses in downtown Trenton and Frankford, with information on any changes to commercial pick-up schedules to be shared later in the spring, explained city staff.
Residents can learn more via the city’s website.
