An investigation is continuing after a fatal collision between a train and pedestrian in the Brighton Ontario Street area, says Northumberland OPP.
In an update late Tuesday, April 22, 2025, police confirmed the pedestrian – an adult male – was pronounced deceased at the scene earlier this afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the collision shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident shut down the area between Monck and Butler streets until after 5 p.m. while OPP’s forensic identification services and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service helped with the investigation, said police.
In their latest update, police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information – including dashcam footage – to reach out to the Northumberland OPP crime unit at 1-888-310-1122.
A CN spokesperson earlier Tuesday deferred all inquiries to OPP as the lead investigating agency.
MBC will issue updates when more information becomes available.
