A 19-year-old Brighton resident is facing charges after a single-vehicle crash in Cramahe, say Northumberland OPP.
Northumberland OPP confirmed charges on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, but the call about a single-vehicle collision came in Sunday, April 20, at about 2:15 a.m. The report indicated that a vehicle had been driven into the trees on Dingman Road, just east of County Road 25, reported OPP.
When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a hatchback sedan off the roadway.
Paramedics also responded and assessed both the driver and a passenger and ended up transporting the passenger to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, said police.
Police said a roadside approved screening device was administered (breath sample demand) and the driver allegedly registered a “fail.”
The accused was subsequently transported to the Brighton OPP detachment for further testing, and as a result of the investigation, was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and dangerous operation causing bodily harm, said police.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Cobourg court on May 28, 2025, reported OPP.
