A 57-year-old man has died following a collision on Hwy. 7 in Madoc, and the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in, says Central Hastings OPP.
Police confirmed the SIU had invoked its mandate on Monday, April 28, 2025.
According to OPP, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, shortly before 8:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically westbound on Hwy. 7. Shortly afterwards, the officers discovered a collision involving the reported vehicle and a motorcycle, reported OPP.
The motorcycle rider – a 57-year-old man – was pronounced deceased at the scene, said police.
The driver of the car – a 19-year-old man – was not injured, police reported.
Police said their investigation is ongoing with help from an OPP collision reconstructionist and technical collision investigators from the OPP’s traffic incident management enforcement (TIME) team.
However, with the SIU invoking its mandate, police said they will not be able to provide any further information at this time.
