You have just under six months to replace the old style red and white Ontario health care card, if you’re still using one.
Starting July 1st those cards will not be accepted. Only the photo ID style cards can be used to access medical services including visits to the doctor and hospital, covered by OHIP.
The Ontario government began phasing out the old cards 25 years ago. If you don’t have a modern healthcare card by Canada Day, you will have to pay up front for doctor’s office or hospital services.
