The airlift of Canadian evacuees from WuHan, China is underway. Reports say a plane carrying hundreds of Canadians who requested to leave the region is in the air bound for CFB Trenton.
In advance of their arrival, preparations continue at 8 Wing where the evacuees will be quarantined in on-base accomodations normally reserved for military families and visitors.
The returnees will then spend 14 days in quarantine, separate from each other, so they can be monitored for symptoms of the new strain of coronavirus
Military medical staff, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Ontario and local public health care officials will take part in the process. Trenton Memorial Hospital is prepared to receive any evacuee showing symptoms of coronoavirus.
