Belleville’s Stanley Park playground was officially opened Thursday afternoon. The new facility is located at Forest Hill Crescent and Edgehill Road.
Complete with paved trails to the playground areas, benches and a transfer station, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) design and compliance were an integral part of the project.
“We are pleased to be able to offer residents east of Herchimer Avenue a community playground once again,” said Mayor Mitch Panciuk. “This park area has been void of playground elements since 2015 and there are no other significant play structures in the area. This was an opportunity to create a playground in this part of the city and incorporate elements that will enhance positive play experiences for everyone.”
Residents are reminded that all City parks currently open to the public are to be used at their own discretion. Parents and caregivers are asked to ensure children are physically distancing at all times. It is recommended residents bring hand sanitizer and that hands are washed carefully with soap and water before and after use. Please remain at home if feeling unwell or exhibiting any symptoms.
