A new initiative between the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre and the VON is looking to bring a nurse practitioner clinic to the Quinte region.
8 Wing CFB Trenton 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron Honorary Colonel Brian Smith says the group has been meeting with local municipalities to discuss the proposed project, adding that a project proposal will hopefully be completed very soon.
He says creating the clinic will help veterans and military members at 8 Wing CFB Trenton access essential healthcare services (which will also help our local hospitals continue to provide healthcare services, in our community.)
Lori Cooper, regional executive director for eastern Ontario says her organization wanted to partner with the MFRC on the proposed project, since the VON has experience in operating nurse practitioner clinics across Ontario.
Smith adds that the proposed project would be funded through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
