Oldies 100.9 news presents the Vanderlaan Building Excellent Educators Day, profiling outstanding leaders in our community.
It’s an exclusive look into the lives of some of Northumberland’s best and brightest educators, including Katie Brown-Gagne, a teacher at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School in Cobourg.
Brown-Gagne was raised in this area, and after years of post-secondary education, returned home where she’s been working in education for years.
A lot of the teacher’s involvement outside of the classroom involves music and spirituality.
She even joked that she’s been in education since before her age was even in the double digits as she led music lessons in the community, leading hymns and skits on Sundays and more.
Brown-Gagne says she tries to not judge someone based on what they look like, what they have or what they’ve done, but rather what they’ve been able to live through and keep going.
