Locally, additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics are being added to the provincial booking system.
Residents born in 1941 or earlier will soon have more area clinic locations and dates to choose from when looking to book a vaccination appointment.
The following clinic locations are either already appearing on the provincial booking system or will appear in the coming weeks:
In Northumberland County: Cobourg Community Centre (CCC) and the Trent Hills Emergency Services Base in Campbellford.
In the City of Kawartha Lakes: Lindsay Exhibition (LEX) and Fenelon Falls Community Centre.
In Haliburton County: Haliburton Family Medical Centre and S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena.
(More details on the above locations can be found below)
Although the provincial booking system went live on Monday (Mar 15), not all of the vaccination clinics planned across Ontario, including Northumberland County, Haliburton County, and the City of Kawartha Lakes, have been loaded into the system.
Dr. Ian Gemmill, our Acting Medical Officer of Health for the HKPR District Health Unit says he understands that it has been frustrating, but that they need to ensure that there is a dose of vaccine available for every appointment and would ask people to be patient and go back into the system in the coming weeks to check for additional clinics.
He adds if you’re an older adult that doesn’t land in the current criteria of 80+, to be patient as more vaccine is coming in April.
Dr. Gemmill explains that as more vaccine becomes available, more clinic appointments can open, and more people can be vaccinated. In the meantime, immunization of high-risk people in phase one, such as residents of retirement homes, is continuing.
All vaccination appointments for residents born in 1941 or earlier MUST be booked through the provincial booking system. Booking can be done online at www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone at 1-888-999-6488.
Dr. Gemmill adds that Premier Ford was here Monday (Mar 15) for the launch of the provincial booking system and show the community effort behind the first vaccination site in Northumberland at the CCC.
