The area around Bon Echo Provincial Park will turn into a military encampment this weekend.
From Friday to Sunday soldiers from the Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre will take part in a training exercise. You may see soldiers in uniform carrying unloaded weapons while conducting field navigation and patrol training.
The Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre (CAAWC) has been located at 8 Wing since 1996. And its is known as the “Centre of Excellence” for 13 different courses encompassing all parachutist courses as well as aerial delivery, mountain operations, rappelling, patrol pathfinder and parachute rigger qualifications.
Each training year, the school sees up to 800 students pass through its doors.
