The Ontario Provincial Police is mourning the death of a member of the Haldimand County Detachment, killed in the line of duty.
On December 27, shortly after 2:30 p.m., Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala had been responding to a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Indian Line and Concession 14, west of Hagersville.
Police say when the officer arrived, he was fatally shot.
Pierzchala was 28 years old and had been an OPP officer for just over a year.
Two people have been taken into custody. No further details will be released at this time regarding the suspects.
