Peterborough Musicfest has announced the fiddling duo of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy will lift the curtain on the festival’s 36th season on July 1st.
MacMaster and Leahy come to Del Crary Park on the strength of the release of Canvas, their third album together. Musicfest general manager Tracey FRandall notes the husband-and-wife dup with roots in Douro last performed on the Fred Anderson Stage in 2011, also as the season opener. She adds their appearance will check a lot of boxes for the festival.
Randall says besides delivering a high energy top calibre performance, MacMaster and Leahy have an incomparable stage presence.
With three acts now revealed for the season – the others are Little River Band and Dwayne Gretzky – Randall says her work filling out the complete lineup continues.
In the meantime, volunteers for the festival are being sought. If interested, visit www.ptbomusicfest.ca/about/get-involved/
