After a friend’s invitation to attend a Royal Canadian Legion dinner and dance in 2013 introduced Kathie Woodcox to the Brighton branch, the Belleville native knew it was an organization that she wanted to help.
Named chair of the branch’s Ways and Means Committee in 2016 – a position she holds to this day – Woodcox helps organize fundraisers that pay for the upkeep and costs associated with the Park Street building. She says her motivation for doing so is based in her strong belief that the Legion is vital to community vibrancy.
Asked what is the biggest obstacle the Legion faces, Woodcox is quick to answer.
Noting it’s very rare that a Legion fundraiser doesn’t turn a profit, Woodcox is very quick to credit her committee team for its role in that success.
