The Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund’s United Lodge 20 Legacy Scholarship has granted Peyton Herrington a $2,500 bursary.
Peyton will be taking Human Kinetics, at the University of Guelph in the fall.
The Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund established its Masonic legacy granting program in 2020 following the dissolution of Brighton’s United Masonic Lodge #29, after having served the residents of Brighton for 165 years. As part of their legacy grant program, they provide two, $2,500 scholarships each year to East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) graduates.
Peyton Herrington told us about her connection with the Masonic Lodge.
Peyton Herrington, who lives just north of Brighton is a graduating senior, who will be starting at the University of Guelph in the fall. Peyton will be studying in the field of Human Kinetics and Kinesiology, and she was awarded 1 of the 2, $2500 bursaries this year.
Payton is looking forward to a career in medicine.
Human kinetics is the study of human movement and exercise, and its impact on health and the body’s performance and function.
“I am thinking about becoming a physiotherapist,” said Peyton. “Definitely something in the medical field and I am grateful to win this bursary, it is a nice cushion for me and will help to purchase textbooks.”
Peyton had a family member who was a member of the Lodge, so what a nice way to keep the memory of Lodge #29 alive. For more information about this year’s bursary winners visit – United Lodge 29 Legacy Grants – Brian Todd Memorial Community Fund (btmcf.net).
