Period Promise makes a meaningful impact to end Period Poverty
Millions of women and girls around the world continue to face stigma, exclusion and discrimination simply because they menstruate.
This year’s community wide campaign collected over 8-thousand hygiene products and raised over 6-hundred dollars to help end period poverty in our community.
Collection began on Menstrual Hygiene Day, the annual global day of awareness and action to create a world where no one is held back because they menstruate by 2030
Acting Executive Director of Northumberland United Way Maggie Darling extended her thanks to everyone who participated and said together we are breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone has access to the menstrual products they need.
Since the programs launch in 2020, Period Promise Northumberland has distributed over 30,000 menstrual hygiene products to individuals, families, and non-profits locally.
