For nearly twenty years now, the Cobourg Sandcastle festival draws thousands of visitors to see the efforts of the many Master Sculptors who come from Ontario, Quebec and the US to compete.
The Town of Cobourg’s Jackie Chapman Davis told us more about these outstanding artists.
That competition features the work of families, local businesses and Jackie said it’s sometimes difficult to distinguish their work from the masters.
Jackie told us she’s thrilled to see it back this year.
The competition runs from 10 am to 4 pm and features the work of eight Master Sculptors as well as an amateur class.
DJ Wee b Chillun will be spinning some tunes on the beach and there’s an inflatable fun zone as well.
According to Chapman Davis, the centre section of Victoria Beach (between Lifeguard Tower 2 and 3) is dedicated to showcasing these sandy works of art which will stay in place until Sunday evening.
Admission is free and there’s also a free shuttle service from the Cobourg Community Centre and the Northumberland Mall running throughout the day on Saturday.
In addition to attending the Sandcastle Festival, visitors can also enjoy the Cobourg Farmers Market on Saturday morning and kids will love the Inflatable Fun Park that will be setup on the south end of Victoria Beach. Five dollars will buy you a wrist band and give you all-day admission.
The Sandlot will be the feature at Movies in the Park which is also free to attend and begins at dusk.
So plan for a great day of outdoor fun, Saturday August 12th at Victoria Park and Victoria Beach in Cobourg.
