With hundreds of entries at the recent Flower and Vegetable Show, the Brighton Horticultural Society names entries by Diane Eames, Linda Wallis and Carol Anderson, as Best in Show.
Diane Eames won the container grown division with her entered orchid, Linda Wallis won the design division, using succulents and driftwood, and Carol Anderson won the horticultural division with her sunflower entry.
Club President Linda Wallis told us it’s easy to become a member.
Each year, the Brighton Horticultural Society hosts a flower and vegetable show that has its members making entries within the following:
· Horticultural Division with 14 different categories
· Container Division with 14 categories
· Design division with 2 categories
There is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each of the 30 categories and 3 from each division are selected by as the best in show.
All entries in the horticultural and container were grown in members gardens while the design division can include items that are purchased or from friend’s gardens.
The Municipality of Brighton has a long history with those who love to garden. The Brighton Horticultural Society started in 1925 with 125 members and meetings have been held every year since that time.
Wallis told us membership has it’s privileges.

The Brighton Horticultural Society is always accepting new members. They meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at King Edward Community Centre located at 81 Elizabeth St, in Brighton, Ontario.
With an annual membership of $20.00, the society meetings take place from January to December and are a great opportunity to meet other gardeners, attend special gardening events and hear guest speakers and horticultural experts.
