Thanksgiving Day in Canada has been a holiday, falling on the second Monday of October, since 1957. It’s a chance for people to give thanks for a good harvest and other fortunes in the past year. As Thanksgiving is a federal statutory holiday, all government offices and services and all Beer Stores and LCBO stores will be closed.
Most grocery stores are also open but many malls and big box stores will be closed.
Garbage collection in Northumberland County will move forward one day.
It’s always best to call stores in advance to double check as hours may vary due to the holiday.
