Last November, YMCA Northumberland introduced the UpTurn Program, generously sponsored by the Ryan Huffman Foundation. UpTurn was established to provide support for individuals facing addiction and managing mental health challenges. It offers a lifeline by offering participants a complimentary 3-month membership to their health and fitness centers.
According to the Y’s Kim Jaye, the UpTurn program has supported over 40 individuals in the past year.
The vision behind UpTurn originates from Ryan Huffman’s personal journey of overcoming addiction and mental health challenges. Ryan attributes his ability to stay grounded and focused to his daily workouts at the Y, which inspired him to partner with YMCA Northumberland to create a program that would assist others in their journey to wellness.
Kim told us Ryan has been the powerhouse behind the program.
Tonight (November 1st), the YMCA and Ryan Huffman Foundation will celebrate one year of the UpTurn program and you’re invited to help celebrate this milestone at the Y in Cobourg.
Jaye told us more about the event.
The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m. at the Front/Ground Level Studio of YMCA Northumberland in Cobourg at 339 Elgin Street West.
