Canada is investing $15 million in southern Ontario’s main streets through Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev).
Minister Filomena Tassi announced the funds for the Canadian Urban Institute’s My Main Street initiative, supporting 325 businesses and 75 community projects.
The investment aims to create 5,750 jobs, with a commitment to rural communities and underrepresented groups.
This builds on a 2021 investment of over 23 million dollars, benefiting nearly 4,000 businesses and organizations.
The government emphasized continued support for main street businesses, fostering prosperity, and inclusive community development.
“Communities across southern Ontario offer a variety of exciting experiences and businesses, drawing both local and international visitors to their vibrant main streets. My Main Street will help retail and main street businesses and organizations across southern Ontario bring people back to local shops and restaurants while creating new employment opportunities and growing communities.” The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario
