Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Northumberland, Quinte and Belleville areas saying significant snowfall is possible Friday afternoon into the night.
Environment Canada says light snow is anticipated starting Friday afternoon, but snow will intensify in the evening.
It’s possible the area could see five to 10 centimetres, with locally higher amounts possible.
Reduced visibility is possible in areas of heavier snow, note officials.
The snow should taper off from west to east late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
However, officials also note confidence in exact snowfall amounts at this point is lower. But even higher amounts are possible for areas near Lake Ontario.
Winter weather travel advisories and snowfall warnings may be issued for some areas as the event draws nearer.
The weather event is supposed to end early Saturday morning.
