Get ready for an evening of inspiration and creativity at Green Wood Coalition’s IMAGINATE 2024 on Thursday, May 9.
Best-selling author Jesse Thistle will read from his new book, followed by him in conversation with filmmaker Megan Murphy. Thistle’s memoir, “From the Ashes,” has won numerous awards. The premiere of Johan Hallberg-Campbell’s film, “NICOLE,” will tell the story of a community worker’s journey from homelessness to leadership and The Gertrudes, an experimental music collective, will provide lively tunes throughout the event.
Artistic director David Sheffield told us how Imaginate got started.
Sheffield says he aims to uplift the audience with stories of hope. This year, they’re adding a fundraising twist, with auctioneer Christian Harvey offering three local experiences as prizes. These include a Cultivate Festival Family Package, Coffee and Conversation with the Green Wood team, and a Picnic for Four.
Sheffield told us for him, Imaginate is like gathering around a campfire and sharing stories, songs and more.
Sponsored by Don Emond of Assante Wealth Management, IMAGINATE supports Green Wood Coalition’s mission of building an inclusive community.
David told us what attendees can expect.
“IMAGINATE takes on challenging issues in challenging times while bringing us stories of hope and possibility,” says Sheffield. “We want our audience to leave uplifted with lightened hearts, so this year we are adding a new twist to raise money for our art hive programs.”
Tickets are $100, with half eligible for a charitable tax deduction, and are available at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall Box Office.
