For a third year in a row, Andy McCabe, who sails out of Brighton, has been named “Outstanding Instructor of the Year.”
McCabe was named “Outstanding Instructor of the Year” by the American Sailing Association, pulling off an incredible hat trick for both local and Canadian sailing instructors, it was announced in a recent release.
The award honours the top one per cent of active American Sailing Association instructors worldwide who are committed to providing excellence in sailing instruction.
“I acknowledge that I’m part of a great group of instructors (who) teach sailing, and to be among the top one per cent is an incredible honour,” said McCabe. “It’s gratifying to see the effort and passion that I put into teaching sailing is acknowledged by my students, and this has allowed me to achieve this status for a third year in a row.”
McCabe owns and operates North Shore Reaching Sailing School and sails out of Presqu’ile Bay in Brighton.
The school is currently in its seventh year of operations. It is the only Canadian sailing school offering American Sailing Association courses on Lake Ontario recognized by Transport Canada and internationally, reads the release.
