In a coordinated effort, the Port Hope Police and Cobourg Police Service have concluded a joint investigation resulting in the arrest of 31-year-old Michael Orleck from Baltimore. The Criminal Investigative Branches of both police services carried out the arrest.
Michael Orleck faces nine charges under the Criminal Code. These include Sexual Interference (Section 151), Sexual Exploitation (Section 153(1)(a)), Abduction of a Person Under 14 (Section 281(a)), Sexual Assault (Section 271), and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 (Section 171.1(1)(a)). Additionally, he has two counts each of failing to comply with a probation order (Section 733.1(1)) and disobeying a court order (Section 127).
The Port Hope Police are seeking assistance from the public and local school personnel. They urge anyone aware of suspicious activity involving parents or unknown individuals requesting students to be excused from school to contact an investigating officer immediately. Additionally, they seek information about any suspicious activity involving a male in a white or red pickup truck attempting to communicate with youth, loitering, or exhibiting stalking behavior.
Orleck has a criminal history, including a conviction for Criminal Harassment on May 16, 2023, with the Cobourg Police Service. He is currently under a release order from November 17, 2023, for repeat criminal harassment and failing to comply with probation.
