Council has called a special meeting to delve into design work to upgrade Brighton’s wastewater treatment facility.
The special meeting is set for Monday, June 3, starting at 10 a.m. The meeting could run until about noon.
The sole purpose of the meeting – and only item listed on the agenda at press deadline – was an overview of the wastewater treatment facility upgrade.
Attached to the agenda is roughly a 300-page staff report on “background and historical context” related to the facility/upgrade.
Engineering and design consultant J.L. Richards and Associates is also supposed to be on hand to talk about the upgrades.
As previously reported, this is on the heels of design work underway for a new plant, estimated to cost between $30 and $40 million-ish.
Prior to the special council meeting, council heard about scope changes to the design for an upgraded facility – and that the proposed scope changes could translate to an additional $400,000-plus.
Council earlier deferred the matter, with support for a special meeting and more fulsome discussion to follow.
