The Town of Cobourg is announcing that the West Northumberland Curling Club has been selected to host the 2025 Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships.
This highly anticipated event will take place at the Cobourg Community Centre from January 20 to 26, 2025. Curling enthusiasts can look forward to a week of intense competition as the province’s best men’s and women’s teams vie for the prestigious Ontario Champion titles.
The victorious women’s team will earn the right to represent Ontario at the Canadian Scotties Tournament of Hearts, scheduled for February 14-23, 2025, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Meanwhile, the top men’s team will compete at Montana’s Brier from February 28 to March 9, 2025, in Kelowna, British Columbia. This championship event in Cobourg promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and dedication.
“We are honoured to have been chosen as the host for the 2025 Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships,” said Linda Laliberte, Jeff Gilmer, and Ian Hartford from the Organizing Committee of the West Northumberland Curling Club. “We are committed to delivering a first-class event that celebrates the spirit of curling and showcases the talent and dedication of our athletes.”
Cobourg has a history of hosting significant curling events, including the 2017 Recharge with Milk Men’s Tankard and the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
“We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to host the Ontario Curling Championships in Cobourg,” says Councillor Brian Darling. “What truly made the 2017 Tankard an event to remember was the sea of blue jacketed volunteers who made certain every detail was thought of. Thanks to the hundreds of volunteer hours put in by this community, the 2017 Tankard was a remarkable success, and we look forward to doing it all again in 2025.”
