A youth is facing weapons charges after a call at a high school in the city’s west end, say Belleville police.
On Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at about 1:48 p.m., police said they were dispatched to the school after receiving a report that a student had allegedly threatened another student with a gun earlier in the day.
An investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old male student, reported police, on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.
The accused, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and held for a bail hearing on charges of pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and criminal harassment, said police Friday.
During their investigation, police allege they located a weapon and determined that it was a pellet gun designed to replicate a real handgun.
No other details were released by police.
