Northumberland OPP are calling on the public for help after a fatal crash claimed the life of a 54-year-old Curve Lake resident.
In an update Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, Northumberland OPP said their investigation into the two-vehicle crash in the Township of Hamilton is ongoing.
The night prior – Sunday, Sept. 15, at about 9:20 p.m. – officers, alongside paramedics and the fire department, responded to a report of a serious collision involving two passenger vehicles, north of Donaldson Road on County Road 28, reported OPP.
One vehicle was travelling northbound and collided with a southbound vehicle, said police.
“Sadly, as a result of the collision, the lone occupant (of) one of the vehicles, a 54-year-old male from Curve Lake, Ont., was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said police, on Monday.
Two occupants of the second vehicle were also transported to a local hospital initially – the driver ended up subsequently being airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries, explained police. The passenger sustained what was described as non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other injuries reported at the time of the crash.
OPP’s traffic collision investigation team was also called in to help with the investigation, resulting in County Road 28 being closed between Donaldson Road and Ganaraska Road until shortly after 3 a.m.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided when available.
