Northumberland OPP say they’ve charged a second individual in relation to an assault at Warkworth Institution that earlier this year sent two individuals to hospital.
The investigation started back on June 10, at about 8:30 p.m., when police said they responded to a report of an assault involving “a number of individuals.”
The alleged incident resulted in two individuals being airlifted to hospital with injuries described as serious.
In an update on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, OPP said another warrant was issued in relation to their investigation, and on Tuesday, OPP arrested an additional person allegedly involved in the incident.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 20-year-old, from Agassiz, B.C., was charged with aggravated assault.
As previously reported earlier this month, a warrant was issued for another individual, with OPP saying they arrested one of the parties allegedly involved on Sept. 12, 2024.
Police said a 34-year-old Loyalist Township resident was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and aggravated assault.
On Wednesday, police said further updates will be provided when available.
OPP continue to ask that anyone with information relating to this investigation contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
